Sedation Dentistry

We know that, for many patients, a certain level of anxiety comes with visiting the dentist’s office and we’re committed to dissolving those fears. Once you step into our office, you will be greeted with more than a fish tank and magazines! We have attractive lighting, TVs, beverages, and a toy area for children.

While creating a serene atmosphere eases your mind during your exam or procedure, we know that it’s not always enough, especially for somewhat invasive dental procedures. With this in mind, our practice offers patients the following sedation dentistry options:

  • Nitrous oxide, which has been around since the mid-19th century, is a safe and convenient sedation tool. It’s delivered through a mask that fits over the nose and makes the patient feel worry-free and calm about the procedure. The gas has no “hangover” effect, meaning that it wears off quickly; patients may return to regular activities after the appointment.
  • IV moderate sedation. An intravenous sedative drug that goes directly into the bloodstream, working more swiftly. This method allows the dentist to easily control and adjust the level of sedation.
  • Deep sedation and general anesthesia. This is the heavy stuff. You take medications that make you either almost unconscious or totally unconscious during the procedure.

We offer sedation for restorative dental procedures, such as root canals and tooth extractions, and for complex treatment plans that will require more than one procedure. You feeling comfortable and relaxed while we get your mouth into shape is our goal. Should you need a  restorative dental procedure, don’t feel embarrassed about discussing your phobias and asking us about sedation options.
