Teeth Whitening

Although tooth enamel is stronger than bone, it can’t resist staining from foods, age, and other factors. There are two types of tooth discoloration: extrinsic and intrinsic. Extrinsic stains come from external sources, like tobacco, coffee, tea, and acidic fruits. Intrinsic stains originate within the teeth from aging dental work, excessive exposure to fluoride, injury, and certain medications. Extrinsic stains respond well to professional whitening systems. Intrinsic discoloration on the tooth calls for dental bonding and veneers.

Whitening Beyond the Dentist Chair
We offer convenient, take-home teeth whitening kits, a most effective way to brighten your smile. The kit includes a custom-fitted whitening tray and several tubes of professional strength whitening gel. Simply fill the trays with the gel and wear them on your teeth for a couple of hours every day. In about a 10-14 day period, your teeth will look noticeably brighter—up to 6 shades.

Dramatic Results with In-Office Teeth Whitening

KoR is a tooth whitening procedure practiced through a series of both in-office treatments and at-home treatments. The system uses specially designed trays that seal out saliva that breaks down most teeth whitening products. The trays and the whitening ingredients join to remove deep, set-in stains that are actually within the tooth’s microstructure, like from tetracycline medication or excessive mineral exposure.

Our practice also offers Zoom! whitening. This entails a combination of a hydrogen peroxide gel and a specially designed ultraviolet lamp. Whitening gel is applied to your teeth and then they’re exposed to light from the Zoom! lamp for three 15-minute sessions. It is safe, comfortable and the results are long-lasting. Although it is more expensive than whitening kits, Zoom! results are immediate and have a shorter treatment cycle. They can also get your teeth up to 8 shades whiter.

Whatever tooth whitening option you chose, we will promptly get you on your way to a renewed look. We love to see patients loving their sparkling, new smiles.
